Traditionally, constructing buildings was more about concrete, steel, physical form, and conceptual designs. But with rapid advances in the Internet of Things (IoT), machine learning (ML), and big data analytics; buildings are no longer perceived only as brick and mortar. Be it a retail store, a restaurant, a commercial building, a warehouse, a hospital, a higher education campus, an industrial building, or even American foursquare – reducing operational costs, conserving energy, meeting sustainability goals, and improving occupants’ comfort is everyone’s goal.
Join this webinar to find out how the integration of different building systems (e.g. HVAC, lighting, electrical usage, video surveillance systems, and other) can unlock the data currently stuck in silos. You will also learn how the smart building solutions in your property can minimize energy usage, save on operating costs, and create a more effective environment for you and building occupants; and how real-time analytics can be leveraged to achieve operational intelligence and to make better, faster decisions. The speakers will discuss the variety of use cases from different industries. They will also cover how building operators, with the help of AI and ML, can do their job better. Smart building is the future now. We view ‘Smart Building’ as an overall package what people want and society needs. How about you?
The following are the answers to the questions that were asked during the live webinar.
Answer 1: Yes, the platform does support automated commands to multiple devices. We can establish the required rules to trigger core actions at a device level.
Answer 2: I would be happy to save more than half of your energy bill. Well, this question we get all the time in our exploration workshops. The core purpose of the solution is to fine-tune the usage of your energy by closely monitoring it. For sure, AI can help you optimize the usage and consumption can be substantially reduced.
Also, let’s take a fact that when there is a new construction we have a free hand to take futuristic steps and savings can be higher compared to the older building.
Answer 3:That’s a good question. Our IoTConnect platform is a hardware agnostic and we have been working with many devices provides during our Smart Facility solution . We have a handful of SDKs and integration options available for new devices onboarding on our platform.
Answer 4: Well, that’s a great question. If I talk about a Green Building, then we are talking about a broader concept which covers resources like energy, water, waste and few others efficiently by reducing waste, pollution, and environmental degradation. On the other hand, the solutions we have shown are specifically covering the energy optimization.
However when we talk about a full-length Smart building implementation, then we touch upon most of the Green building components.
Answer 5: Glad that you liked the session, addressing your question there are always challenges and when it comes to implementing such solutions in the older setups. Specifically, in terms of Capex and Opex standpoint. However, we have been working on a couple of old buildings and our data models for space utilization and optimizing resources accordingly are adding significant value.
Answer 6: Yes, our Smart Building solution is interoperable with third-party products. Whether you have a lighting control system from Lutron or Honeywell, an elevator control system from Otis or Kone, a wireless network from Cisco, or a facility management system from Accruent or 360 facility management – we have web APIs and connectors to establish communication with third-party systems.
Answer 7: No doubt, there are different techniques available to measure workspace utilization, as I have mentioned about it in one of the slides during the webinar. However, as talked, occupancy prediction and resource allocation are still the issues with those techniques.
Well, during our implementation we have chiefly used motion sensors. The very reason behind it - to use the sensor data to train the machine learning model and make the solution more effective for occupancy prediction and resource allocation. We are more focusing towards providing an AI-powered IoT solution as with the time. It can give more excellent benefits than any other solutions till now.
